Programming Instructions
J1939 to NMEA 2000 Flashing Guide. MPLAB ICD 3 Connection
Connect the J1939 to NMEA2000 adapter RJ-11 jack to the MPLAB ICD 3 RJ11 connector
CAN Network power connection
Connect the J1939 to NMEA2000 adapter to the CAN network power source using the CAN connector
Open MPLAB IPE
Now configure MPLAB IPE to the correct settings for interfacing with the J1939 to NMEA2000 adaptor
Ensure the values are correct then press connect
Then select the Hex file you wish to load by clicking the browse button
This dialogue should then appear to enable you to select a Hex file for programming
The location of the Hex files for this particular product is located in S:\Code\Production\3185 J1939 to NMEA2000 Adaptor Double check that you have selected the correct Hex file and it has been loaded successfully
Once you are satisfied the correct Hex file has been selected and loaded successfully you can then proceed to program the J1939 to NMEA2000 adaptor. Press the Program button
Keep an eye on the console output window for feedback on how the programming procedure is running. At the end of the programming procedure you will be greeted with a Programming/Verify complete message.
You can again verify what has been programmed by pressing the verify button
Once MPLAB IPE has verified the programmed hex you will be greeted with a message in the output console
At this point programming and verification on this device (J1939 to NMEA2000 adaptor) is now complete you may now disconnect the CAN power connector and the MPLAB ICD 3 RJ-11 connector. Update: Do not forget to put the jumper on!!!
