5180 Build Instructions
Unpack Poseidon black box assembly 203083. Keep this brown box and all packaging to re box the finished unit.
Unscrew 4 x top screws in box, and remove internal brown box – this contains the heat sink, pipes and fixings. Depending on how this is packed, these parts may not be inside the Poseidon box but packed into the master box, so this step may not be required.
Programming PSU Board
Connect PCB - LED should flash. Select S/Downloads/DCDC-USB-Pro, then open the application see pic below.
The PSU board is now programmed.
Slide out front, rear and side plates, and unscrew the silver plate from base – this silver plate is not required as part of the Poseidon assembly see pic below.
Remove 4 x round feet from the bottom of the case if fitted (keep the screws). Then, add 2x brackets as per pic below.
Fit processor 203128 to motherboard 202926.
Fit RAM module 203129 to motherboard 202926.
This needs to be screwed down properly.
- Image 1: 1 jumper
- Image 2: 3 jumpers
- Image 3: 2 jumpers</note>
Fit heat sink block to the silver brackets (the brackets may need adjusting). Add heat sink compound 203131 as required between block and processor, and fit black shim to the base.
Fit front plate, – fit connector 203133, 2 x screw 203186 and 2 x nut 201367.
Then solder on the cable that comes with power board 203130. Use heat shrink 203141
Select pins and connect as below see pic.
- Red: pin no. 2
- Yellow: pin no. 3
- Black: pin no. 1
Fit SSD 203135 to base of box (check orientation), and fix down with screws supplied see pic below.
Fit SATA to FDD cable 203115 and SATA data cable 203125
Fit front panel then motherboard 202926. Use wide headed screws x4.
Fit Programmed power board 203130 to back plate.
Cable tie cables together as required – keep cables as low down as possible in the box to avoid fouling on the heat pipes. Snip off loose ends of ties, see pic below
Solder the cables supplied with 202928 PCB to connector 203126 x2. Cut off 9 pin connectors and solder as per pic below.
See below pic.
Yellow: pin no. 4, Green: pin no. 5, Black: pin no. 3.
Fit red / black cable supplied with PSU. From 2 pin header on 203130 to yellow header on motherboard. Add cable tie to secure in place, see pic below.
Add 2x side plates – screw holes to be near top side, see pic below.
After this, tidy up cables as needed with cable ties- ensure cables are safely routed and not touching the heat pipes. Ensure no cabling is pulled tight as it could dislodge a connector, see pic below.
A member of staff (not the person that assembled the units) must check over all the cabling to ensure everything is connected and that no connectors or cables are suffering undue stress – check how cable ties are affecting this. Check that the PSU to motherboard cable has been secured with tak pak. Check that screws have been tightened sufficiently. Check that the cabling is clear of the heat pipes.
====== Final test ======
Temporarily fit lid into place, this is now ready for final programming and test.
Items required - Poseidon unit - - Installer USB stick - - Keyboard and mouse - - Monitor with HDMI connection - - Ethernet cable
Plug in HDMI to HDMI 1. Plug in Ethernet cable to ETH1. Plug in keyboard and mouse to any USB. Plug in USB stick. Plug in green power connector.
Remove the USB stick, and press enter.
Remove and re insert the power cable – this will prompt the following screen:
Press enter.
This will then give more text as per image – request unlock disc. Press 1 then enter. see pic below
This will then do various scrolling, then ask for a log in prompt, see pic below: “OEM” then enter “root” then enter
Next type: /opt/install/setup.sh then press enter see pic below
Type serial no then press enter
Type batch ID then press enter
Main server prompt “Y” then enter
see pic below
The system will then continue with the self install.
This will then boot up to the main Poseidon screen. Check that the serial number on the screen ties up with the number on the unit.
Hold down: CTRL + Shift + semi colon, then press “C” Type: candump can0 and press enter
Data will then appear and scroll on the screen, see pic below
Then, press CTRL + “C,” Swap the connector to CAN1, Type: candump can1 and press enter, Data will then scroll as per previous
Press CTRL + “C”
Type: shutdown –t 0 then press enter Note the two spaces above! The unit will then shut down – add the green connector and box the unit
Refit lid using 4 x screws removed earlier. Ensure hands are clean of heat sink compound before doing this, to avoid getting smears on unit. Take care not to cross thread these screws, and do not over tighten.
Carefully clean finished box afterwards. Fit green connector to mating half on front plate. Give the unit a gentle shake to ensure there is nothing loose inside.
