9025/3185 Build Instructions

The 9025/3185 PCB assembly contains components that are sensitive to electrostatic discharge (ESD)- Please make sure you are wearing your wrist strap when handling.
These two products are the same build, programming and testing Instructions. J1939 to NMEA2000 = 3185 NMEA2000 to J1939 = 9025

Tools: 5mm long drive socket + driver T10 Torx security bit 17mm spanner

See NMEA 2000 to J1939 Flashing Guide for programming instructions. S/parts_Documents/9025/ programming instructions, Ensure the logic board is programmed with the latest firmware revision before placing into the housing as once installed you will not be able to programme the unit or flash the firmware. See Instructions below.
J1939 to NMEA 2000 Flashing Guide MPLAB ICD 3 Connection, Connect the J1939 to NMEA2000 adapter RJ-11 jack to the MPLAB ICD 3 RJ11 connector, see pics below.

Connect the J1939 to NMEA2000 adapter to the CAN network power source using the CAN connector, see pics below

Now configure MPLAB IPE to the correct settings for interfacing with the NMEA2000 to J13939 adaptor.

Ensure the values are correct then press connect

Then select the Hex file you wish to load by clicking the browse button, Ensure you select the correct one e.g 3185 or 9025, see example below.

USE ADVANCED MODE IF YOU CANNOT LOAD SOFTWARE Double check that you have selected the correct Hex file and it has been loaded successfully

Once you are satisfied the correct Hex file has been selected and loaded successfully you can then proceed to program the J1939 to NMEA2000 adaptor. Press the Program button

Keep an eye on the console output window for feedback on how the programming procedure is running.

At the end of the programming procedure you will be greeted with a Programming/Verify complete message.

Test Procedure

Select J1939 SIM from the test equipment

Using test lead, fit 3 x wires White / black / blue

Connect the J1939 simulator Note –you will require 3 cables from the network to do the test, Once this is connected, the green LED will also flash rapidly, see pics below

Add 4 x 200943 spacers to existing studs in metalwork.

Place the board 10262-F in to the housing. Remove the rubber grommet and nut from PL1, see pic below.

Screw 201485 onto studs using the 5mm long socket securing the board to the housing. Taking time to align the two switches with the top cover, see pic below.
