10698-B Build procedure

Ensure all parts have been QC’d before proceeding Use bubble wrap or similar under the display housing to avoid scratching the paint. Fit foam (yellow backing) to display housing. All ends must meet up to provide a dust seal for the glass. Allow a slight gap around the inner metal edge to allow for compression once the TFT holder is bolted on, see pic below.

Add edge strip to prevent cable rubbing, and add foam strips and poly tape, see pic below

TFT Cut a strip of polyester tape 10mm longer than one of the sides of the LCD unit and apply it to the metal bezel along the front of the LCD 5mm from the inside edge. Leave 5mm overhang each end of the tape, Fold the tape over and stick it down along the edge of the LCD unit; fold again and stick down along the back, see pics below

Press the tape down on the bezel to ensure good adhesion. Repeat the above so that all four sides are insulated. Pierce the tape through into each of the four mounting holes (two on each short edge), and clear the threads using a steel M3 bolt so as to readily to accept the nylon screws. See arrow on pic below

TFT holder Turn the frame so that you are looking at the LCD unit cavity with the larger cut-out on the left. Fit the four 50mm self adhesive foam strips to the back face of the cavity along the shorter sides. Use the foam with the white backing. Each strip should extend to the corner except for the one in the bottom left where it should be 5mm back.

Fix the 300mm strip to the back face along the bottom edge. Remove the paper backing to the foam and lay the LCD panel into the cavity with the backlight cable exiting from the bottom left corner. Fasten the unit in place with the new M3 Nylon screws and stainless steel spacer washers taking care not to over tighten. see pic below

Fit TFT into frame – check the bezel for swarf, as it could puncture the tape and cause an electrical short between the TFT to the frame. Fit nylon screws – these may need trimming down first so that spacers are not required, see pic below.

Lower glass on to metalwork. Clean glass on the reverse side, and ensure there are no scratches, see pic below.

Fit tray and TFT to metalwork. Check there is no dust between glass and TFT before fitting M4 nylock and washer x 10

Fit PCB – must use a nylon screw, and a nylon washer between the PEM and the PCB, see below

Fit LED and buzzer – use threadlock, see below

Fit USB’s and dust caps. Note orientation on USB Use threadlock, see below

Fit USB extensions and use P clips to route Fit LVDS cable – use tak pak to hold in place Fit PCB cable (earth loop goes at the bottom) – use tak pak to hold in place Use P clips to hold items in place as per image Fit wires to buzzer and LED <note>The image below here is a fully built display with cables added. </note>

Engineering to test the TFT at this point

If all is ok, silicone can be added as per image all the way around, see pic below

Fit rear panel using security Torx screws, see pic below This is now ready for testing (currently done by engineering)
