5180 Build Instructions

The 5180 assembly contains components that are sensitive to electrostatic discharge (ESD) – please make sure you are wearing your wrist strap when handling.

Unpack Poseidon black box assembly 203083. Keep this brown box and all packaging to re box the finished unit.

Unscrew 4 x top screws in box, and remove internal brown box – this contains the heat sink, pipes and fixings. Depending on how this is packed, these parts may not be inside the Poseidon box but packed into the master box, so this step may not be required.

Programming PSU Board

You will require USB to USB cable and a PC

Connect PCB - LED should flash. Select S/Downloads/DCDC-USB-Pro, then open the application see pic below.

The PSU board is now programmed.

Please see below pic for a list of screws supplied with the T8 box, and applications for each.

Slide out front, rear and side plates, and unscrew the silver plate from base – this silver plate is not required as part of the Poseidon assembly see pic below.

Remove 4 x round feet from the bottom of the case if fitted (keep the screws). Then, add 2x brackets as per pic below.

Do not over tighten screws.
At this stage, please take precaution assembly contains components that are sensitive to electrostatic discharge (ESD) – please make sure you are wearing your wrist strap when handling.

Fit processor 203128 to motherboard 202926.

TAKE CARE when fitting processor, to not damage the pins on the motherboard, as these are extremely fragile see pic below.

Fit RAM module 203129 to motherboard 202926.

Ensure this is properly inserted at 45 degrees and is fully in place. Note – this goes into the TOP slot on the connector see pic below.

Fit Mini PCI (red PCB) to motherboard 202926.

This needs to be screwed down properly.

Remove jumper links, if fitted, jumper links on 2 x pin headers must be removed see pic below.

Ensure jumpers are in desired locations – note, at this point the PCB has NOT been fitted to the case see pics below.
  1. Image 1: 1 jumper
  2. Image 2: 3 jumpers
  3. Image 3: 2 jumpers</note>

Fit heat sink block to the silver brackets (the brackets may need adjusting). Add heat sink compound 203131 as required between block and processor, and fit black shim to the base.

Take care when screwing down to avoid processor damage – do not over tighten, Check for sufficient quantity of heat sink paste, but do not use too much, see pic below..

Fit front plate, – fit connector 203133, 2 x screw 203186 and 2 x nut 201367.

Lightly file the flat edges of CAN1 and CAN2 to remove paint – this should be a snug fit to prevent the connector from rotating. (Drawing has been amended so follow on batch may not need filing, if so these notes can be removed, see pic below)

Then solder on the cable that comes with power board 203130. Use heat shrink 203141

Select pins and connect as below see pic.

  1. Red: pin no. 2
  2. Yellow: pin no. 3
  3. Black: pin no. 1

Fit SSD 203135 to base of box (check orientation), and fix down with screws supplied.
