4291/4925 Build Instructions.
Programming.
Connect unit to programming device.
- Select Atmel studio
- Select Device programming
- Select required Fuses see pictures below.
- Select Memories
- Select Atmel Flip (select ATmeg4C1)
- Load Hex file (4291-v2.0.6.hex) for 4925 load 4925 hex file
- Place magnet in position see picture below
- Select Bit rate (250)
- Verify Flash
Test Procedure
• All tests should be carried out at room temperature unless specified otherwise.
• All tests should be performed fully and in specified order.
• At the start of testing DUT has to be in default configuration state.
Calibrating Sender to Sensor
TEST EQUIPMENT USED
- 4291 Sender
- Flat Head Screwdriver
- Hydrostatic Sensor
- NMEA Network
- Calibrating Pipe on staircase (production side)
- CTS file if provided by customer
Step 1
Power on the NMEA power supply and set to 12V before turning on.
You will need an NMEA connector in the production staircase, and connect the 4291, the blue LED should be double blinking every few seconds.
Open Monex on your PC, click 'Get Serial' and 'Get ProdInfo', you shoud see the 4291 show up.
4 Configuration
The device is configured using the left hand rotary switch, labelled 'config' before use the unit must be calibrated to the sensor.
4.1 Zero calibration
- Ensure that the trim sensor is in the zero (full down) position
- Turn the 'config' rotary switch to position 'E'
- Hold a magnet over the label marking 'Magnet'
- The blue LED will light for 2 seconds. The zero position is now calibrated
- Return the config switch to the 0 position
4.2 100% Calibration
- Ensure that the trim sensor is in the 100% (full up) position
- Turn the 'config' rotary switch to position 'F'
- Hold a magnet over the label marking 'magnet'
- The blue LED will light for 2 seconds. The 100% position is now calibrated
- Return the config switch to the 0 position

Make sure the water Pipe is empty before connecting the hydrostatic sensor.
Open the Left valve on the staircase pipe and screw in the hydrostatic sensor, make sure it is level to the ground when taking readings and calibrating.
Use the screwdriver and turn the left Hex switch to 'E', place magnet next to 'magnet' label (under both switches), The blue LED will start to blink rapidly, hold the magnet in place until the LED turns solid blue.
Check Monex to see that the sender is transmitting 0%
Step 4
Now proceed to fill the pipe on the staircase to the specified level on the CTS file “full cal”. If no CTS provided, calibrate to the specified maximum height on the sensor (make sure its as precise as possible).
If 4671 then full calibration is at 4 metres.
If 4670, 4672 or 4673 then full calibration is a 2 metres.
When the water level is at the full calibration level make sure the hydrostatic sensor is as horizontal as possible.
Turn the left Hex switch to 'F', place magnet next to 'magnet' label (under both switches), The blue LED will start to blink rapidly, hold the magnet in place until the LED turns solid blue.
Check Monex to see that the sender is transmitting 100%.
Step 5
On monex go into the Volumetric mode tab, click 'Read table from sender'.
Now Drain the water slightly, and each time compare the water level to the monex output, in unsure then ask for help.
If the readings are all within 1% of the real value then calibration is finished.
TEST EQUIPMENT USED
- • NMEA2000 Network with PCAN-View NMEA2000® USB Adaptor
- • Test unit
- • Calibrated Multimeter
- • MONEX installed on a PC
Fit PCB to box – this will go either way round
Secure with 4 x spacers
Take care when fitting the spacer by the NMEA connector, as it may foul when fitting
Fit top plate and screw down
The screws must also be flush after fitting.

Label Printing Instructions
- Choose labels required
- Select (LabelDirect)
- Close (Pop Up)
- Go to file-open
- Select - Parts documents
- Select - 4291
- Select - Labels
- Select - UL_4291_A-2.0.4
- Highlight Serial number and change in Text box.
- Go to Incrementing number Properties and change serial number.
- Go to file -Print Setup
- Select bradyBBP11-34L(copy 1) and select Calibrate.
- label will calibrate.
